Casa Cascianella is situated just outside the ancient village of Cascianella with its tiny population, and a 10/15 minute walk from Casciana, which is a little busier and boasts a bar and shop!

Despite the real feel of yesteryear, the stunning views and peace and quiet, it is only a 5 minute drive (or less) to the village of Piazza al Serchio with traditional local shops, supermarket, small Tuesday morning market, river, bars, restaurants and train station for easy exploring.

In terms of larger towns, there is Castelnuovo the busy market town which is 20 mins or so away, the mediaeval town of Barga 45 minutes, and the walled city of Lucca, which is a must for a day out, 1 hr 15 mins or so
