There is one 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom stone cottage, with the option to hire the Converted 'chestnut house' of 2 bedrooms and 1 bathroom, (which is not hired separately) for a larger party.
The property Which is set in extensive grounds boast a large private swimming pool 15Mx9M. The estate also boasts its own stables (set into the grounds enough to not to bother those not interested in horses!).
The property is fully equipped for a self catering holiday, but meals will be provided if required, either regularly or just on the odd occasion ..... Horse riding is available literally a stone's throw away (some experience required), either by the hour, the day or why not hire a horse for the duration of your holiday? Or just relax and picnic in the grounds

• The main house consists of a downstairs 'lounge' area with wood burning oven leading to a character kitchen with hob, fridge freezer, microwave & open fire.
• Also on the ground floor is a double bedroom with en suite shower room.
• On the first floor is a further double bedroom, a children's twin room and a further shower room.
• Immediately outside the house is a covered eating area, Which joins the main house to the Chestnut House. On the ground floor of the Chestnut House is a further larger living / kitchen / dining area with TV, open fire, oven, hob, fridge, dishwasher Which is open to guests hiring the main house.
• To reach the bedrooms of the Chestnut House, it is necessary to go outside and climb the stone stairs to the further 2 double bedrooms and shower room

  Outside:

  Extensive grounds including large private swimming pool and paddling pool. Pool size is graduating with depth, & paddling pool 2.5m diameter, 0.5m depth.

  • Please note that for July and August it is only possible to hire the site in its entirety and this is reflected in the price for those months detailed Which Reflects the cost of hiring both houses. For the rest of the year, the choice is yours - if you wish to hire the Chestnut House as well as the main farmhouse, then there is a supplement of £ 295 per week in May, June and September, and £ 100 for October through to end of April. We can however be flexible and provide additional beds as required - please ask. Easter and Christmas prices are same as May prices.
  • for parties over 10 guests and above there is an additional charge of £ 35 per week for each additional individual.
  • Horse riding is E15 per hour or you can hire a horse for E50 per day. Longer excursions are negotiated separately.
  • Breakfasts, lunches and dinners can be provided - please ask for cost. For the 'private chef' option - i.e. Daniela cooking dinner as and when required, the cost is between E12 and E20 per person including wine depending on the menu.

  • There is also opportunity to try archery on site (deposit required), and Fishing weekends, endurance horse riding, blacksmithing and hunting weekends can be arranged

Fornace is set in the heart of the countryside, in extensive grounds and totally off the beaten track approx 2kms from the ancient village of mills Vallico, and is approached down a dirt track road-800M.
The site is surrounded by chestnut woods (perfect for mushroom picking!), and the Apuan mountain range, and is totally isolated. It is set on \"The Edge of the The National Park - Nature Park, Apuan Alps - perfect for walking, hiking, riding and just picnicking! There are also very good opportunities for fishing.
Despite the isolated location there are 3 or 4 good restaurants within a 10/15 minute drive, and to many others further out. Lucca is less than an hour away; Barga 30 mins, Pisa 75 mins, Florence 1 hr 45 mins, Siena 2 hrs 30 mins.
