These two pretty stone cottages with pool, offered together, with private use of facilities are located on a high meadow overlooking the beautiful garfagnana valley and the apuan alps, about 2km from the mediaeval village of s. Romano. The grounds are vast, fully fenced and flat, ideal for children to play, for your morning jog and for your dog... A rarity in the Garfagnana
The cottages have retained original features giving a real country feel to your stay!
There are beamed ceilings in most rooms, traditional cotto flooring, chestnut windows, and some exposed stone internal walls.
This combined with modern comforts such as fully equipped kitchens including dishwashers, dvd players, wifi and a pool.
Each cottage has its own private shaded outdoor dining facilities including bbq but the site is also ideal for two families to hire together, giving a sense of privacy but also plenty of space to be together.
Each cottage has:
3 bedrooms - 1 double and two twins,2 shower rooms, living room with comfy seating, fireplace, tv, dvd and wifi.
The kitchens are well equipped with oven, hob, microwave, fridge/freezer and dishwasher, washing machine.
Outside there is a huge shared garden with plenty of flat space, wonderful views and a private pool (10m x 5m ).

A little about the area
The property is situated 2 km from the village of San Romano, which has a bar, and small supermarket. Further afield is the town of Castelnuovo which is a 15 minute drive, and has all facilities - bars, restaurants, shops, supermarkets, famous Thursday morning market.
The house is also just a couple of kms from Camporgiano which has a couple of bars, some restaurants, supermarket, castle, station etc.
There is also a lovely riverside restaurant within walking distance too!
There are further large villages closer than town such as Piazza Al Serchio which has supermakets, restaurants, and a main line train station for when one wishes to explore without the car.
The mediaeval town of Barga is just 30 minutes away. Pisa is an hour and 30 min drive, Florence 2 hrs, and the breathtaking medieaval walled city of Lucca just under an hours drive.
All in all a perfect mix of rural retreat, with a mere 10-minute drive taking you up into the mountains, and the Natural Park of Orecchiella for wonderful walking, unusual wildlife and rare fauna; bocce and cheese throwing, but also a good base for exploring the towns of the area.

Private property ideal for large families; Very large swimming
pool. For young people, WIFI connections. Large living spaces and

Ideal layout for single families as there are two houses. Very
lovingly furnished houses with great furnishings. Fantastic pool,
but only suitable for swimmers. Very nice hosts. Ideal property for
children to play, very large and well-maintained lawn.

Lama Piana was a great place to stay. We were two families (4
adults and 6 kids) staying for 10 days. It was very spacious. The
houses were clean and had towels and linnen provided. There were
both washing maschine and dish washer. There were a big garden for
the kids to play soccer. The swimmingpool was great with an outdoor
shower and sunbeds. The pool was approximately 150 cm deep. Wild
guess 5 x 11 meters. The host Eduardo was very friendly and
helpful, and easy to get in touch with when needed. Lama Piana is
in the countryside, but close to several local villages. Also just
a 1-2 hours drive to Lucca, Pisa, Firenze and La Spezia/Cinque
Terre.

We had a wonderful time staying at Lama Piana with our son
and three grandchildren. The pool was a great asset given the very
hot weather. We enjoyed most: days out in Lucca, the mountain drive
to the beach at Forte dei Marmi and two good evening meals on the
terrace at Il Grotto at nearby La Villetata.

Very nice property in the Garfagnana. Plenty of space for larger groups. The property is located a bit away from the usual tourist places, i.e. The journey to Lucca, Florence etc. takes some time. But if you like it more rural and quiet, it is perfect for you.

Well suited object for at least 12 people. Secluded, quiet, large pool and very nice garden. Very friendly landlord who lives in a house on the property, but does not feel disturbed by groups. Ample outdoor seating. All in all, a very good property for a group holiday with friends or for families.

property Great, park-like facility. Both houses are furnished in a rustic style, but go perfectly with the stone house style. Big clean pool. Landlord on site. Totally helpful, help immediately if there is a problem. A dishwasher was broken in one house, and a new one was installed 2 days later. Wasp nest had formed on the garbage cans. It was removed 1 hour after sending the message to the landlord. Communication with the landlord verbally and via WhatsApp very unproblematic. Simple English no problem. Very nice young man. We spent a great holiday there, 2 families with 2 children each aged 5 to 7 years.
