Rustico Lamola offers a wonderfully relaxed countryside escape in the beautiful Garfagnana region of northern Tuscany.

Surrounded by greenery and backed by dramatic mountain scenery, the house provides an authentic rural setting while still being within easy reach of restaurants, wine tasting and traditional Tuscan towns. A wine-tasting venue is just 1km away, while three local restaurants can be reached within a 1.1-2.3km walk. A supermarket is available in Camporgiano (2.3km) and the lively market town of Castelnuovo di Garfagnana, with shops, restaurants and its popular weekly market, is around 15 minutes by car.

Sleeping up to 8 guests in four bedrooms, and with 3.5 bathrooms, Rustico Lamola retains the charm of a traditional Tuscan farmhouse, offering a warm and welcoming atmosphere full of character. The interiors are comfortably furnished with a genuine countryside feel rather than a modern minimalist style.

Recent improvements include insect screens throughout the house, helping keep interiors comfortable during warm evenings. Thanks to the altitude and cooling mountain breezes, the house remains pleasantly fresh in summer, and fans are provided instead of air conditioning.

Interior

The house offers generous living space across two floors.

On the ground floor guests will find:

• a large traditional kitchen and dining room, ideal for relaxed family meals
• a comfortable living room with fireplace
• a bright garden room opening towards the outdoor areas
• a separate WC

Upstairs there are four bedrooms sleeping up to 8 guests, together with two full shower rooms (each with shower, basin and WC).

Outdoor living is one of the highlights of Rustico Lamola. A large covered and shaded loggia runs along the front of the house, creating a wonderful space for outdoor dining and long summer evenings while enjoying the surrounding countryside views.

Just beside the house lies the large private saline swimming pool (12m x 6m). At one end of the pool is a shallow circular sitting area, perfect for relaxing in the water while enjoying the views of the mountains beyond.

• Poolside shower room, meaning guests do not need to return to the house wet

Rustico Lamola is particularly popular with families thanks to the animals on the property. Children love visiting the resident alpacas, tortoises and chickens, which add a special countryside charm to the stay.

For a memorable experience, the owners can also arrange guided alpaca walks on request, a unique activity enjoyed by both children and adults.

Exploring the Garfagnana

The Garfagnana is one of Tuscany's most beautiful and unspoilt regions, known for its mountain landscapes, historic villages and excellent local food.

Rustico Lamola is perfectly placed for exploring the area, with several wonderful attractions close by:

• Fortress of Verrucole (7 minutes) - a fascinating medieval fortress with an interactive museum and spectacular views across the valley.
• Buffardello Adventure Park (5 minutes) - a woodland adventure park with zip wires, rope courses and climbing challenges for all ages, from small children to adventurous adults.
• Lake Vagli (30 minutes) - famous for the submerged medieval village that occasionally re-emerges when the lake is drained. The lake also features one of the longest zip wires in Europe, flying high across the water.
• The beautiful hill town of Barga, around 30 minutes away, is widely considered one of Tuscany's most charming villages and is known for its impressive cathedral, artistic heritage and excellent restaurants.
• Nature lovers will also enjoy exploring the nearby Orecchiella Natural Park, ideal for walking, wildlife spotting and enjoying the dramatic scenery of the surrounding mountains.
• No trip to the area would be complete without visiting the beautiful city of Lucca, around one hour's drive away. Famous for its perfectly preserved Renaissance walls, Lucca is one of Tuscany's most elegant and enjoyable cities to explore. Visitors can walk or cycle along the tree-lined walls, wander through charming piazzas and narrow streets, admire historic churches and towers, and enjoy the many excellent cafés, restaurants and artisan shops.

Important Information

The property sits in a peaceful rural setting with typical country roads. While 3 restaurants are within walking distance, the roads have no pavements or street lighting, and some sections may have passing traffic, so many guests prefer to drive, particularly in the evening. Probably more of an adult walk.
