Set in beautiful, peaceful countryside with wonderful views across the Garfagnana valley towards the Apuan Alps, Lama Piana consists of two charming traditional Tuscan stone cottages sharing a large private swimming pool and enormous, flat, fully fenced gardens.

Perfect for families and friends holidaying together, the property offers plenty of space to relax and enjoy time together, while the two independent cottages provide privacy and flexibility for different families or generations.

Situated on a lovely elevated meadow near the medieval village of San Romano in Garfagnana, Lama Piana is a wonderful place to escape the bustle of everyday life. Despite its peaceful rural setting, excellent restaurants, local shops and a surprising choice of activities are just a few minutes away.

The Accommodation

Lama Piana comprises two pretty traditional stone cottages, each with its own entrance, living room, kitchen, three bedrooms and two shower rooms.

The cottages retain their authentic Tuscan character, with exposed wooden beams, terracotta floors, chestnut windows and original stone features, alongside modern comforts to ensure a relaxing stay.

New for 2027: Cottage A has been refreshed with a brand-new kitchen, a lovely newly fitted shower room and fresh decoration, giving the interiors an updated feel while retaining their traditional charm.

Both cottages also benefit from insect screens throughout, particularly welcome during the warmer summer months.

Each cottage offers:

• One double bedroom and two twin bedrooms

• One twin bedroom that can be prepared as a double on request, arranged in advance

• Two shower rooms

• A comfortable living room with sofas, fireplace and TV

• A fully equipped kitchen with oven, hob, microwave, dishwasher and fridge/freezer

• Washing machine and WiFi

• Its own shaded outdoor dining area and barbecue

• Insect screens

Each cottage comfortably sleeps six guests in the standard beds, with the possibility of adding an extra single bed to one bedroom in each cottage, increasing the total capacity to 14.

This arrangement is ideal for two families sharing a holiday, or a larger family group where grandparents, parents and children can enjoy their own space while still spending plenty of time together.

Outdoor Living - Space, Sunshine and Wonderful Views

One of Lama Piana's greatest attractions is its exceptional outdoor space.

The cottages are surrounded by enormous, flat, fully fenced gardens, a real rarity in this mountainous part of Tuscany. With plenty of room for children to run around, play games and enjoy the fresh air, the grounds are particularly appealing for families and guests travelling with dogs.

The large 10m x 5m private swimming pool is perfect for cooling off on warm summer days, swimming with the family or simply relaxing in the sunshine while admiring the beautiful mountain scenery.

The pool area is separately fenced and gated, providing additional reassurance for families with younger children.

Each cottage has its own shaded outdoor dining area and barbecue, perfect for leisurely breakfasts, relaxed lunches and long summer evenings enjoying good food and local wine.

With so much space, everyone can find their favourite spot, whether it's beside the pool, relaxing in the shade or simply taking in the peaceful countryside views.

So Much to Enjoy Just Minutes Away

Although Lama Piana enjoys a wonderfully peaceful rural setting, there's a surprising amount to see and do right on the doorstep.

Food lovers will appreciate the excellent local restaurants, including Cantina Bravi, just 4 minutes away, and Davy's, around 6 minutes away.

At Cantina Bravi, guests can also arrange wine tasting, discovering more about local wines and the traditions of this beautiful region.

For a special evening, we can organise a private chef to prepare a delicious Tuscan meal at Lama Piana, allowing everyone to enjoy a memorable evening together without leaving the property.

Families will find plenty to keep children entertained too. Horse riding is available at a nearby riding centre (5 minute walk), while children and adults alike can enjoy the unusual experience of taking alpacas for a guided walk through the beautiful countryside around San Romano (2 minute drive).

The village of Camporgiano, just 5 minutes away, has a supermarket, pharmacy, bank, bars, pizzeria and train station, making it easy to pick up everyday essentials or enjoy a relaxed evening out.

Exploring the Garfagnana

The Garfagnana is one of Tuscany's most beautiful and unspoilt regions, known for its dramatic mountain landscapes, traditional villages, wonderful local food and relaxed pace of life.

Lama Piana is ideally placed for discovering the area, with some fantastic attractions within easy reach:

• Fortress of Verrucole - 7 minutes: A fascinating restored medieval fortress with interactive historical experiences and spectacular views across the valley.

• Buffardello Adventure Park - 5 minutes: A woodland adventure park offering zip wires, rope courses and climbing challenges for different ages and abilities.

• Orecchiella Natural Park - 30 minutes: A beautiful protected mountain area with forest walks, wildlife and magnificent scenery, ideal for nature lovers and those who enjoy walking.

• Castelnuovo di Garfagnana - 15 minutes: The area's main market town, with shops, cafés, restaurants, historic streets and a popular traditional Thursday morning market.

• Barga - 30 minutes: One of Tuscany's prettiest hill towns, famous for its charming cobbled streets, impressive cathedral, beautiful views and excellent restaurants.

• Lake Vagli - 30 minutes: A spectacular mountain lake, famous for the submerged medieval village of Fabbriche di Careggine, which occasionally reappears when the lake is drained. The area also offers an exciting zip wire experience across the water.

• Lucca - under an hour: One of Tuscany's most beautiful historic cities, famous for its perfectly preserved Renaissance walls, elegant piazzas, historic churches and wonderful restaurants. Visitors can walk or cycle along the tree-lined walls, explore the narrow streets and enjoy the many cafés, shops and local markets.

For those seeking a little more adventure, the wider area also offers water canyoning at Parco Levegliese, rafting experiences, hiking, cycling and countless opportunities to explore traditional mountain villages and discover the authentic Tuscany that many visitors never see.
