Luxury Tuscan Hideaway, Private Pool, Mountain Views & Tuscan Food Experiences
Description
A very special Tuscan hideaway for those looking for peace, privacy and somewhere truly beautiful to spend time together. Four en-suite bedrooms, private saline filtration pool, wonderful outdoor living, well equipped kitchen and 10 acres of gardens and olive groves. Optional private chef, pizza evenings, cookery lessons and arrival meal.
Santa Lucia is one of those rare properties where the villa itself becomes a highlight of the holiday.
Set completely privately within 10 acres of gardens, olive groves and woodland in the beautiful Lunigiana region of northern Tuscany, the house enjoys extraordinary uninterrupted views towards the Apuan Alps. This is a place for guests who want to escape the crowds, slow down and enjoy a more peaceful and authentic side of Tuscany.
The beautifully restored villa combines traditional Tuscan character with a high level of comfort. Stonework, chestnut beams, terracotta and local granite sit alongside stylish furnishings, quality linens and a superbly equipped kitchen.
There are four bedrooms, each with its own en-suite bathroom, making Santa Lucia particularly comfortable for two families or groups of friends holidaying together.
Outdoor living is at the heart of Santa Lucia
Days here tend to revolve around the wonderful outside spaces.
The large private saline filtration pool has spectacular mountain views, with a pool house, shower room, shaded pergola and sunbathing terrace. Around the extensive grounds there are several different places to sit, relax and dine, so even a full group can easily find their own peaceful corner.
The outdoor kitchen has a traditional wood-fired pizza oven, open grill, stone sink and marble worktop, while the gardens offer lawns, boules and croquet.
It is the sort of house where plans for a day out can very easily turn into another day beside the pool.
Make the villa part of the experience
One of the pleasures of staying at Santa Lucia is that you don't always need to go out to enjoy a special evening.
Our wonderful local housekeeper Alessandra can arrange, at additional cost and subject to availability:
- Private chef service
- Traditional Italian meals
- Pizza evenings using the wood-fired oven
- Cookery lessons
- A home-cooked meal waiting in the oven for your arrival
These experiences are always popular and are a lovely way to enjoy the house and experience local Italian food without having to drive anywhere.
Inside
On the ground floor there is an immaculate, exceptionally well-equipped kitchen with six-burner hob, oven, American-style fridge/freezer with ice maker, wine fridge, Italian espresso machine, dishwasher and locally sourced granite worktops.
The open-plan dining area leads directly to a large outdoor dining terrace and kitchen.
There is also a comfortable reception room with open fireplace, a cosy study opening onto another furnished terrace, and a guest bathroom.
Upstairs are three beautifully presented double bedrooms and one twin bedroom, all with their own en-suite bathrooms. Two of the bedrooms have French doors looking directly towards the mountains, while another overlooks the pool towards Castello dell'Aquila.
Insect screens are fitted throughout the house.

A peaceful, less-discovered corner of Tuscany
Santa Lucia is for guests who value privacy, scenery and tranquillity over being in the centre of the main tourist trail.
The lively small town of Fivizzano is around 10 minutes away for restaurants, shops and a supermarket, while Aulla is around 25 minutes away and has shops, restaurants, supermarkets and a railway station.
For days out, La Spezia - gateway to the Cinque Terre - is around 50 minutes away, as are the beaches around Lerici. Lucca is around 1 hour 20 minutes and Pisa around 1 hour 25 minutes.
This is also a wonderful area to explore in its own right, with medieval villages, castles, mountain scenery, walking and traditional restaurants. In summer the surrounding villages come alive with local festas, where visitors can eat alongside local families and experience a very different Tuscany from the main tourist centres.
Important information about access
The privacy and spectacular setting of Santa Lucia do mean that the final approach is more rural than some guests may be accustomed to. The final 1km is on a fully cemented private road which is narrow and steep in places. Regular cars use it without difficulty when driven slowly, but we recommend avoiding very large or low-slung vehicles. Guests who are comfortable with the approach invariably tell us that the peace, privacy and extraordinary setting at the end of it are well worth it!
Santa Lucia is an exceptional choice for guests looking for a luxurious Tuscan retreat where the house, pool, food, views and time spent together are as important as sightseeing.

Fantastic house with a unique location and view of the mountains. The house is well furnished with rooms and private toilet/bathroom for all rooms. Sweetest host family. The garden/pool area is really lovely and well-maintained.
Date of arrival - 25 July 2026
It was wonderful. The house, the garden. Simply great!!!
Arrival date: 16th August 2025
Arrival date: 14 June, 2025.
I just wanted to say how much we enjoyed our stay at Santa
Lucia. It was a well-appointed villa in lovely countryside. The
swimming pool was a delight, especially for the early morning dip
joined by the swallows. I, for one, enjoyed the seclusion once we
had mastered the drive!
We did a little exploring locally, market shopping and venturing as
far as Lucca but another time I would love to find more walks in
the hills.
Alessandra could not have been more helpful even though our party's
Italian was not up to much but Google translate helped.
Please pass on my thanks to the owners for allowing us to stay in
their lovely home.

Very nice location (in the middle of nowhere), spectacular
views, we spent a very relaxing first week of September 2024.
Temperatures dropped at night, we slept very well with open
windows, did not miss air-conditionning. We very much enjoyed the
pizza oven, using it every second day. It became a family event
with everyone involved.

Highly recommend staying at this gorgeous villa hidden in the
Carrera Mountains. Kitchen is plenty stocked to cook any meal you
desire and the pool provides entertainment for days.
Arrival 25th June 2023
I have never been to a property location this beautiful before.
When we were shown around the grounds we were are all in awe. An
absolutely exquisite spot. Mountains, trees and a very light
sprinkling of villages surround you. The property is in fantastic
order throughout and very well equipped. Thanks to the hosts who
were immensely helpful, too. Can't rate it highly enough.
Arrival 22nd July 2023
An absolutely fantastic house in an absolutely fantastic
location! Far exceeded our high expectations. Hope to come
back!!
Arrival 8th July 2023
We enjoyed a week in this wonderful villa. We can only recommend
this house. It is really nice.
Arrival 15/7/23
My family of 7 spent the week here at the end of May. It is an
absolutely stunning property in the Tuscan countryside. The
pictures do not do this place justice. The home, garden, pool and
facilities are immaculate - you could not ask for the wrong thing.
My son and I played table tennis for hours with the mountains as a
backdrop! The mountain bikes are brand new, just make sure you have
your energy drinks as there are lots of hills! The pizza oven was
great fun and easy to use and all other kitchen utensils and
appliances were available making any self catering a real breeze.
The drive to the property is narrow and windy but we managed fine
in a 9 seater van, just go slowly. There is lots to do in the area;
trips to Lucca and Cinque Terra are recommended. The property is
looked after by a local family, who are really friendly and helpful
- although Google translate is a must!

House, garden and views are wonderful and mostly you will just hear bird song and insects. A highlight was a meal cooked by Alessandra and family. Surprisingly good local shops as a bonus and enough fireflies in the evening for a discotheque. A little remote for hard core sight seeing which was fine

We had a very nice time and the house corresponds exactly to the
descriptions. It is wonderful.

A wonderful holiday in a grandiose, well-equipped house that
leaves nothing to be desired. Everything was really excellent - the
communication on site was very friendly and always helpful, the
house and garden are very well maintained and super clean. The view
of the mountains is breathtakingly beautiful. The road to the house
is indeed adventurous and it is best to bring groceries directly
with you. During the stay we thought carefully about every
purchase, since you've been away for a while. For whom this is not
a problem: absolute booking recommendation!

Excellent villa, splendid location and facilities. Wonderful
area lots to see and do
8/20/2022
The house, grounds, and views are incredible. We took pictures of the mountains across the valley almost every time we went outside. The pizza oven is lots of fun. It's a great place to get away from the touristy places, relax and enjoy some authentic Italian small towns. The downside is that the property is located off the beaten path so be prepared to drive at least 15 minutes to get anywhere; the final 1 km to the house is on a very narrow, winding road with no room for error. The housekeepers that manage the property don't speak English, so come prepared to communicate via What's App and an Italian/English Google translator. The one thing we found a bit frustrating is that the owners require that garbage be removed from the property; this would not be a problem if there were garbage bins nearby but there are none so guests are expected to find and use garbage bins on someone else's property in nearby towns.
Lonely location, car necessary, the private road is hardly passable with a large SUV. Contact person always available promptly.
5 stars
The villa is located in the middle of the green in an isolated and silent position with a breathtaking view of the valley below and the Apuan Alps, ideal for a stay in complete relaxation, without a noise or disturbance. It is very well structured with a large ground floor organized in such a way as to allow everyone their own privacy, while upstairs the four bedrooms are large and bright, each with its own large and comfortable bathroom. The pool is simply beautiful, overlooking the valley with an incredible view of the mountains and its water is salty !!! The welcome and support from Diego and Alessandra was the best we could have and a big thank you to them. Truly a stay that we will dream of for a long time to come !!!!
