Barga, Northern Tuscany – the most Scottish town in Italy
Mountain views and Tuscan Retreats
The mediaeval mountain town of Barga has been officially listed as One of the Most Beautiful Villages in Italy for its historic and artistic importance. This ancient hilltop 'city' is surrounded by a lush green landscape with wonderful views of mountains and villages visible from the from the hilltop cathedral. There are tiny hilly cobbled streets, beautiful architecture, old churches and palazzos.
In the summer the town comes alive and has many events, including 'The Piazzetta's' in July when there is free music to be heard in each of the different piazza's, and August for the jazz festival. There are various dances, markets under the stars and other events in high season too, as well as the now famous Fish and Chip Festival.
